Just finished a short Agility session with Wilson, It makes me feel asthough we really are a team, at one point we were both trying to catch our breath and he was just looking up at me. We are working on "contact" where he pauses at the contact point. Bethany Roche x

Should have the video done within the week maybe before - not 100% in the song yet but i have a few in mind, photo's from this morning (thanks anna) and some teaser's (photos) for the video ... coming soon !!!!!!!!!!!!!
We ordered handmade adjustable collars for the puppies and we tried them on today - they needed it loosened a bit they have grown so much! We got 3 woodland for Sunny, purple flowers for Chatta & Flying Saucers & Rocket's for Mr Dizzy. They are so cute, as usual a bit of scratching but they should get used to them soon! Wilson's puppy collar was Navy with Reflective bones and a matching lead which we could squeeze on him if it was necessary (we still have it! )
I FINALLY am able to use my PC as I now have space on!!!! Bethany Roche x The puppies are really becoming puppies now before they were cute, adorable, gorgeous & sweet but they did little but sleep and feed. Now they play, bark, BITE, cuddle, interact with humans, play with Wilson, eat, sleep, repeat! They are the sweetest little things and become cuter and sweeter by the day and are developing their personalities. They are being raised following the "Puppy Culture" guidelines which is this amazing DVD all about raising a litter they do clicker from now (4 weeks) they are presented with mildly "scary" thing's and they get new experiences every day. They have been doing startle response training so yesterday I dropped a whole load of books on the floor, which the puppies were surprised by but not really scared. They are just AMAZING !!! Bethany Roche Xx PS. I'm trying to fix my stupid laptop so I can make a video Dizzy on my lap this morning :-)
We have for the past 3 or 4 year's walked our dog's in the farmer's field's.
Anyway we were "banned" from the field's a few day's a go after a disastrous walk (first Wilson got an electric shock on the fence and cried and cried and I almost cried too before he came back to us - he got over it in less than 2 minutes then we were heading back up the fields when we spotted a tractor in the next field we recalled the dog's I clipped on Wilson's collar and then we ran up the other field (beside the one the tractor was in) until we got to the gate, the dog's were exhausted and so were we!) They were probably going to ban us anyway as they said we can't walk because of several reasons. Anyway that mean's we have only a few places to walk - the Forest, - Beach & Road with a 40min drive to the beach that is a once-a-week-walk really and we can't go to the forest everyday and at the minute that's off the list beacause of infection ect for the puppies, so that leaves the Road. They obviously all have to be on the leash Wilson used to be a NIGHTMARE on leash barking, pulling, desperate to be in front ect... I've been doing a lot of work on leash walking, heel ect... and he is much improved even my Mam thougt so (she hated walking with me and Wilson before as he was "embarrassing" to walk with - especially if he barked). I took my new treat bag and treat's he barked for the first 30second's as we got on the road but after that he was silent he's alway's liked being up front so I decided to keep him ahead of the other's I asked him to heel and gave him a treat regularly he was great walking with a "loop" in his leash and looking up at me often. He barked when we passed another dog and refused treat's so we hurried past and he was fine then we met someone else so I picked him up which upset him and he struggled to get free (Holly was ahead which won't have helped him). However it was a great walk and I'm really proud, a couple/few thing's to work on there but overall great. I tried to get a photo but it's fuzzy (it was taken on a phone) here it is anyway ... Bethany Roche x Ps. I am working on video's - If your confused about how many are coming out and when the are coming out ect... One Puppy Video is actively being made, You and Me is at a stand still for now but will be made, and I'm actively working on We Can Do It, or I will be as soon as my computer is fixed!!! Well this evening I decided to try Wilson on the Wobble Board. I first got one paw his front on and then two them I crossed my leg's and held it so it didn't wobble at all and got three then 4 paw's on repeated 4 paw's a few times and then I held it steady, I still wobbled but not much four paw's on. All this was in less than 20 minutes! SO PROUD of my Jazzie Boy! Bethany Roche x
I'm going to get Wilson a new collar, leash, harness & ID Tag for Wilson.
I am really trying to get Wilson all trained for this September Agility show, if you missed my previous post/s about it it's a big show on in September in Belfast and it's a YKC Agility CRUFTS Qualifier I'm really looking forward to it and that's my aim.
Anyway I wanted to find out the height he has to jump so first I had to check if he was Small, Medium or Large I was pretty sure he was Small so I looked it up and found out that 350mm is the height limit for a small dog and Wilson is 300mm tall I still have to get him measured OFFICIALLY but even if I was 50mm off he'd still fit in Small I also found out he has to jump 35cm high on a standard jump. I also tried him out on a Rising Spread Jump and he was fantastic !!! I am making progress on his weaves. Bethany Rochex We have decided as they are now 4 weeks old that tomorrow they will get to have their first trip outside tomorrow!!! I'm really looking forward to it, we have lot's of fun new toy's (they are all different textures, shapes and sizes so they are not scared of ANYTHING.) They have a fab new play pen which we've bought lot's of toy's ect... for! I haven't decided on my Music yet but I have a few Idea's for songs it Will most likely be 4-5 weeks!!! Beth Rochex
I trimmed Wilson last summer and he's been looking a bit messy recently, he HATE'S me brushing his "bum fluff" and under his belly, so I decided it was time for a trim!!! I've never sent him to the groomer's (a "typical" cavie cut is basically trimmed right down so they have less coat than a lab!) and I think a "shaved" cavie is ugly and if they are fat too then they look even worse! Although I may send him to the groomer for his next cut - we'll see!
Anyway we have are own "clippers" we did a No.6 and did that all over Chest, Back, Side, & Belly then we did a No.2 for his Bum (it had some tangles) a No.0 for his inside of his ear's (which was cut a bit too far and if he flips an ear back you can see a bald patch on the side of his head.) and we tidied up his Tail, Ear's Paw's, Leg's ... with the scissor's and he look's lovely. I think he look's like an agility Cavalier now! Bethany ... Ps. I have Before (and a photo of some of the lot's of fluff we got off.) and I will get After Photo's and share them here !!!! |
